Let’s bust some myths about meditation & have a clearer understanding of this concept so that we do not refrain from adopting this holistic approach to peaceful & positive life. 

 

1.         Myth: Meditation is hard.

             Truth: This myth about meditation makes us feel like we can’t practice it. So, most people easily give up and miss the opportunity on all the positive ways it can enhance our lives. It is all about a small & gentle effort of developing a habit and making it a part of our lifestyle.


2.         Myth: Meditation is only for people with mental health issues.

Truth: Meditation is for everyone! It benefits people of all age groups and professions in improving their performance, focusing/concentrating, enhancing their capabilities, and figuring out their weaknesses, remaining true to themselves, analyzing their lives & working to be the best version of them.


3.         Myth: Meditation will put you at ease from day one.

             Truth: Meditation requires consistency, dedication, discipline & a conscious approach to feel its grasp & effect on one’s life. It is not a one-day job but takes its own course of time to get absorbed into the mid & soul of an individual.


4.         Myth: It is only for reducing stress or anxiety

Truth: It actually covers a greater dimension when it comes to dealing with the physical, mental & spiritual state of an individual. It plays a significant role in improving the quality of life, and how we think, react & pursue our life.

5.         Myth: Meditation is a religious practice.


             Truth: Many religions advocate meditation and its importance. It doesn’t teach or signifies about a particular religious practice but it is about introspecting our inner selves & paving a way towards mindfulness & mindful living.

6.         Myth: You must be in a particular sitting position and specific kind of place.


             Truth: You can meditate and achieve a mindful state while walking, hiking, observing nature, or even listening to soothing music. It is not restricted to a single sitting position or some specific action or a place.
